Happy Birthday, Wendy

Well ... Wendy's birthday was Monday, but I'm treating her to a birthday lunch on Friday. That gave me a few days to finish her card and assemble her gifts. I used two forms of inspiration in creating this card. I really liked the card sketch #39 from retrosketches, and the "Festive, Circle, Green" trigger word challenge from 365 Cards helped me put it all together.

Sketch~N~Scrap #21

I love being inspired by a sketch! Here is the sketch from Sketch~N~Scrap:

And, here is my take on it:

I took a close up of the snowflakes I created from re-purposed acetate packaging. I used white acrylic paint on the edges. I can thank Tim Holtz for that idea!

SNS DT Call

I've never done this before, but thought, "What the heck?!". I'm submitting this layout based on a sketch from  Sketch~N~Scrap. It's funny because I see some familiar faces from Personal Scrapper. It's great to see those smiles again.

Resisting Tim

I look forward to seeing what interestingly creative techniques Tim Holtz shares at the beginning of each month for his monthly tag reveal. This month was a resist technique. I have done something similar to this in the past, but never utilized an iron to remove the embossing powder. Way cool! Instead of making a tag this time, I decided on a Thanksgiving card for my parents. And, I used colored embossing powder instead of clear embossing powder. The images don't pop as much as Tim's did, but I still like how it turned out. The other technique I tried was one I see Tammy Tutterow use time and again. She embosses the rim of her tags and cards. It gives her projects the perfect finishing touch. The card is based on sketch MFTWSC62 from My Favorite Things.

Treats

There is so much Halloween inspiration in blogland and Pinterest, it's difficult for me to tear myself away from the computer to actually create something. So, here are a few of the projects I did over the past several weeks.

I participated in a challenge on the Sassy Lady Blog, but I misread that the challenge was for Christmas tags, not just any ol' tag! lol I also saw how Shelly Hickox glittered up her rosette die. So, of course, I had to incorporate that in to my tag.

The next project was one I saw on Dawn's Stamping Studio for Tic Tac holders. They were just the cutest things! I recreated the base on my gypsy using different images from my collection. I liked making these so much that I'm planning on doing them for Christmas as well!

I also made a couple of Halloween treat holders. I used the Glitter Window technique I saw on Shelly Hickox's Blog. Way cool! It worked splendidly on the cat cut out! I'll definitely be trying that again!

Lastly, at my most recent Women's Club meeting, one of the talented women brought the sweetest lil' Acorn Treats! Yummy! The following morning, I jumped on Pinterest and found several recipes. I made them, packaged them, then decorated bag toppers, and hand delivered them to my friends! So fun!

Sketchy

I love sketches! They provide me with such inspiration. It's hard for me not to use every detail on the sketch. I'm working hard to make the sketches more "me". Hmmm, whatever that is?! lol Here is my take on Creative Scrappers Sketch #226.

Another Card

This is quite unusual for me, but I was actually able to combine two challenges. It was a mere accident, but fortuitous at the same time. Love that when that happens! Happy Sunday!

These are the challenges:
1). retro sketches #29
2). 365 Cards Day 198
